Tomaree Head Summit Walk is a short but demanding return walk in Tomaree National Park. The climb reaches the 161-metre summit above the Port Stephens entrance, where the lookout opens to views over the harbour, beaches and offshore islands.
The NSW National Parks walk guide (opens in a new tab) rates the 2.2-kilometre return route Grade 5 and advises sturdy shoes, water and care on steep or wet paved sections. Check current park alerts and conditions before setting out.
If you want to extend the outing, the Tomaree Coastal Walk guide (opens in a new tab) places the summit within a longer coastal route that connects Shoal Bay with Birubi Point Aboriginal Place and highlights Worimi Country.
For arrival orientation, Visit NSW's coastal-walk overview (opens in a new tab) identifies the walk start at the end of Shoal Bay Road.
